One world. One weather. One ocean that doesn't check passports.

AYLA carries an original painting by our founder Arki. Three shapes in washed reds and pinks — a tall vertical bar, a round form, and a half-disc. Stand back and they resolve: an O and a D. Our initials, drawn by hand, hidden in plain sight.

Look at where the O sits. Not beside the D. Inside it. A circle — round, whole, singular — held within the letter. That was the point of the painting. One world, and someone holding it.

Look closer and you'll find three shapes but far more than three colours. Every other tone exists because two shapes overlap. Nothing in it is separate, and nothing in it makes its colour alone. That's the rest of the point. We draw lines across the world that the world has never once observed. The air that leaves here arrives somewhere else. The water that falls on one coast fell off another. There is no second planet holding the spare parts.

Cut as a relaxed boxy tee in lightweight 155gsm organic cotton, garment-dyed in a soft faded blush so it arrives already worn-in. Dropped shoulders, a fine ribbed neckline, faded seams. The painting sits across the chest. Nothing across the back.

Cut relaxed and boxy through the body, not oversized. Take your usual size, or size up one if you want more volume. Lighter than our 220gsm pieces, so it falls rather than stands away.

Why you’ll live in it

— Lightweight 155gsm organic cotton single jersey — it falls rather than holds
— Relaxed boxy cut with real room through the body, without the bulk of an oversized tee
— Set-in sleeves with dropped shoulders that sit well past the shoulder point
— Short sleeves finishing above the elbow with a twin-needle topstitched cuff
— Fine 1x1 ribbed neckline that holds its shape
— Garment-dyed after making, so the colour settles into the seams and arrives already soft
— Faded seam detail — the washed look is built in, not printed on
— Self-fabric back neck tape, no scratchy label across the shoulders
— Twin-needle topstitched hem
— Original O & D painting across the chest in soft water-based ink · nothing across the back
— Ring-spun combed organic cotton — longer, smoother fibres, softer against the skin

Fit and sizing

AYLA is cut relaxed and boxy, not oversized. Take your usual size for the intended fit. If you want more volume through the body, size up one.

Worth knowing: because it's lightweight, AYLA skims rather than structures. It won't stand away from the body the way a heavyweight boxy tee does — it falls. If you've bought our 220gsm pieces, this is a different feel entirely.

The hem sits at the hip, roughly a hand's width below the natural waist. Long enough to wear out over everything, short enough to tuck the front.

On our model: she's 172cm, usually an Australian size 8, and wears a size M.

SIZE GUIDE (CM)

Size Guide

Size AU Chest Length Sleeve
XS 6–8 51 53 18.5
S 8–10 54 56 19
M 10–12 57 58 19.5
L 12–14 60 60 20
XL 14–16 63 62 20.5
2XL 16–18 67 64 21

AU sizes shown are standard Australian women's sizing, as a guide only. AYLA is cut for a women's fit.

Measurements are point to point on the flat garment, in centimetres, taken before wash. AYLA is garment-dyed, so expect a little natural variation between pieces.

Where to measure from

The easiest way to find your size: take a piece you already own and love the fit of, lay it flat, and compare it to the numbers above.

Chest width
Across the chest from one armpit to the other. This is a flat measurement, so double it for the full body circumference. A size M measures 57cm flat, about 114cm around.
Body length
From the highest point of the shoulder, where the neck meets the shoulder, straight down to the bottom hem. On AYLA this lands at the hip.
Sleeve
From the shoulder seam, along the outside of the arm, to the topstitched cuff.
FABRIC & FEEL

A lightweight 155gsm single jersey in 100% organic cotton, ring-spun and combed so the yarn runs smooth and the surface stays soft against the skin. Breathable, easy, and broken in from the first wear rather than the tenth. A quiet matte finish with a faint natural slub — the texture of a real cotton knit, not a flat engineered one.

AYLA is garment-dyed, which means the tee is sewn first and dyed afterwards. The colour settles unevenly into the seams and the body, and no two pieces come out identical. Yours will be slightly its own — a touch deeper here, a touch faded there. That variation isn't a fault to apologise for; it's the reason the tee looks worn-in on day one.

It also means the colour may sit a shade away from the photographs. We'd rather tell you that now than have you open the parcel and wonder.

CARE

Made to last — wash it like you mean it.

— Cold machine wash with similar colours
— Wash inside-out
— Do not bleach
— Do not tumble dry
— Reshape and line dry in the shade
— Cool iron inside-out if needed, never directly on the print

One thing specific to this one: garment-dyed cotton can release a little colour in its first few washes. Wash AYLA with like tones to begin with, and keep it out of a load with anything pale.

FAQs

How does AYLA fit?
Relaxed and boxy, not oversized. Take your usual size. Size up one if you want more volume.

What size is the model wearing?
She's 172cm and usually an Australian size 8, wearing a size M for the intended relaxed fit.

Is this lightweight or heavyweight?
Lightweight. 155gsm, cut to drape and move. It's a different feel to our 220gsm pieces — softer, less structured.

Is the print meant to be letters?
Yes. It's an O and a D — Oldest Daughter — with the O sitting inside the D. Some people see it straight away. Some never do. Both are fine.

Why is my colour slightly different to the photo?
AYLA is garment-dyed, so every piece takes the colour a little differently. Expect small variation between tees and from the images.

Who painted the print?
Our founder, Arki — original artwork, printed by hand in the Byron Bay hinterland.

Is the print on the back too?
No. Front only, plain back.

Is it made in Australia?
It's designed and printed in the Byron Bay hinterland. The cotton is woven, dyed and assembled in Bangladesh. We say it plainly because we'd rather be accurate than flattering.

Will you make more?
No. Episodes don't get reprinted. When this run is gone, it's gone.

FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Arki drew three shapes and let them cross. Out of it came our own initials, and a circle sitting inside them that looks, if you let it, like a planet being held. Neither thing was forced. That's usually how the good ones arrive.

We printed it by hand in the hinterland, on organic cotton, in a small run, on a tee cut to be worn for years rather than a season. It won't fix anything on its own — a t-shirt never does. But it's a quiet argument you can wear: that there is one of this place, that we're all standing in the overlap, and that what we choose to make and what we choose to keep is the only vote most of us get to cast every single day.
